Perhaps I missed it, but I didn't see anyone actually answer this part of the question, so I'll take a stab at it. I've never used SuSE, but I know that with apt, after you install, sometimes you have to go edit the /etc/apt.sources (or something to that effect) to tell it that you want it to use online repositories instead of cds. You might try looking in /etc/ for a yast sources file...
