Thanks Paul and HRM,
I believe that the bolt is the right size  -- it is a 17 mm, as the
Clymer manual indicates, but I suspect it was forced in: it was very
difficult to get out.  Happy to hear that it's not a difficult thing
to get done (though some other folks suggest that the whole oil pan
needs to be removed in order to make sure that no residual metal is
left around -- probably a good idea).  Won't be easy to get it
transported, but everybody's got problems! ;-)
