Very repairable. It was just parked out in the weather (under a tarp
for the last 2 - 3 years. It was running fine up till then. I want
to get it going again and back in as best shape as I can. It will
take carb cleaning, paint job, new battery and lots and lots of elbow
grease - but that's what I do to these old bikes, Graham

Points ignitions suck, they constantly need to be re-adjusted
because they wear down and change the dwell. For the cost of a few
points/condenser sets you can get the electronic ignition set and
never have to fool with them again. You will get a stronger more
consistent spark as well. As for the Regulator Rectifyer, that is
the single most prominent weakness of that bike. If you are going
to keep it long term you will either replace it now, or replace it
with a new stator as well down the road. Personally I'm for
preventitive maintenance, it saves me the aggrivation of being
stuck on the side of the road, thats worth $100 to me.
I'm hoping next year to get my hands on a GS too (got a note on the
VFR right now).
Graham, how much did you pick up the GS1000E for?
