If your burning a quart in 300 miles the bike would smoke enough to where it
would be obvious. These bikes are easily good for over 80K miles some people on
this list have over 100K. I would suspect a leak probably around the oil cooler
lines or the counter shaft seal (front sprocket). Look for oil on the front of
the engine or on the left side of the swing arm.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] low on oil

Hey All You Nighthawk Lovers,
I'm new to the group. I looked through prior posts, so I hope I am not
asking something that has been answered elsewhere.

So, my 1991 cb 750 has been great. I change the oil regularly. Last oil
change was about 2 months ago.

A few weeks ago, I rode the bike from Seattle to Walla Walla--about 275
miles each way. It was the longest, hardest riding I have done on this
bike, and it was great.

But, just now, I stopped for gas. After I filled up the tank, the bike
wouldn't start. It was as if I had the kill switch on, but I didn't. So, I
checked the oil and it was LOW.

I added an entire quart before it got full!!!! Yikes!!!

I know I do not have a leak. Am I burning oil? What to do?

Thanks.
