I agree, but I finally broke down and purchased a battery tender and multiple
leads since I have two riding tractors and two motorcycles that I need to keep
charged through the winter. I try to ride occasionally through the winter but
there are weeks where the weather is a little too cold and wet for it. So I
might just go ahead and put it on charge tomorrow just to see what happens but
I'm doubtful there's life left. I'll let you know.

If the battery was that low then it is doubtful it will revive with adding
water. You have to keep an eye on wet cell batteries when on a charger as they
will boil off the acid. I hope you got an AGM, they are so much nicer.

Two of the cells are dry as a bone, seeing air past the plates and towards the
bottom. Along with the fact that I can watch the voltage dropping with my fluke
meter when I turn the key on, I think that means the battery is toast. Either
that or I have a killer short. I'll wait for the replacement to come in in a
few days. I ordered one through the local Powersports shop, $46. I guess that
sounds fair. Thanks again. Mike

Ill look at that when I get the seat off. Right now its at my work and tools
are somewhat limited here. I'm not a mechanic by trade...

If it is not a sealed battery you might want to check the acid level. I got
about 1 year extra on battery that was just low on acid, by refilling it with
distilled water.

Wow Allen, I went out to try it again and when I turn on the ignition I get

Battery gone dead? See if you can get a jump from a car battery, don't have the
car running though.

It's been a month since I had the Nighthawk out so I figured I'd take her to
work. It was a little chilly this morning so I figured it would be tough being
her going. After about 30 seconds of cranking the starter speed turning it over
I figured the battery was low. I was able to bump start it by coasting down my
driveway. When I got to work and shut her down I tried to start her back up and
the starter is just making a single click noise and not turning the engine at
all. Sounds like the starter has died right? Can they be rebuilt or do I have
to replace it?
