I haven't put inline filters on my CB bikes, either. I've wanted to, but there isn't much room and I didn't want to butcher the hose and then have it not work. The tanks are clean, anyway, and they do have screens in them. People who haven't taken their carbs apart (I know you have, Dave) also don't realize that there is a filter inside each carb just above the needle valve as a last line of defense. In short, my Nighthawk has gone over 50K miles with no gasoline filter under the tank and has done just fine.
