miguel n nacianceno <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote [snip] Can't I use are regular filter and the regular hood at the same time (e.g. 24mm with 52mm Nikon polarizer and the 24mm's HN-1 hood)? Do I have to use the special HN-12 hood to use with the filter? Also, if I do have to use the HN-12, will is work if I use it with other 52mm filters [snip] Sorry but the Nikon 52mm pol is oversize to minimize vignetting. The female threads on its front are larger than 52mm (60mm according to my calipers) so the regular 52mm hoods (like the HN-1) will NOT fit it. I guess ONLY the HN-12 will fit it. With a 24mm you will likely get vignetting if you use even the base section of the HN-12 in any event. I guess that leaves few options hood-wise with the 24mm if you want to use a polarizer with it. Hoodless seems the only way to go with anything shorter than 35mm in the Nikon line of lenses accepting 52mm filters. -- Terence A.
