I'd say the only real noticeable speed difference is in boot times of  
the OS.  Running applications and other tasks I feel are quite  
similar. I did only use the default OS for a week or so, at which  
point I switched to eeeXubuntu.

Suspend works just fine, it just is the hibernate I can't get working,  
although apparently people have got it working, I may have not spent  
enough time working on it.
