LinuxSampler itself is pretty awkward. I'll tell you what I use, with the
caveat that it's still experimental and only supports SFZ, it's lisaloqt
(which uses calfbox). LisaloQT supports NSM, and it works great. Calfbox
now does the same kind of disk streaming that LinuxSampler does, so there's
no need to use LS anymore to play SFZ.

Also, Non Mixer does not host LV2 plugins, but there is a nice LV2 host
that supports NSM, it's called Carla. It's part of KXStudio, but you can
install it on any distro.

If you're still stuck on having to use LinuxSampler, then you're going to
have to settle for using nsm-proxy and maybe some scripting to get it to
behave.
