GitHub user Soniflare created a discussion: How to find/install NetBeans 8.1???
I'm trying to find, download, and install version 8.1 of NetBeans, but not only is there no longer an official download, but the only files I found online was the files that would normally sit in /usr/lib/netbeans. I thought just putting them there might work, but it doesn't, and any time I try opening NetBeans, it opens to my install of NetBeans 30, and if I try running the executable itself within 8.1's /bin folder (netbeans.sh), it shows a "Initializing..." window for a few seconds before closing and not doing anything else. It doesn't even leave a log I think. Can someone please help me with this? It's the only way I can start developing stuff in Java ME (Micro-Edition). For context, I'm trying to learn how to develop BD-J (Blu-ray Disc Java) so I can program custom menus, and it requires Java ME as far as I'm aware.
