Hi Taco !
Thanks, Taco, for your quick answer ! The server was already very slow
before Christmas
(when searching for documents on ConTeXt Garden), and that was before it
crashed.
There should be a law to prevent hardware failures during the holidays!
If you need any equipment (hardware), please let us know.

Hi all,
The web server is back now. Of course it managed to crash while I was
vacationing.
Best wishes,
Taco

Probably the easiest solution would be to just have a fully-static site
that's automatically updated once a week or so by using something like

Yes, also IMO hosting a static ZIM container makes the most sense.
I looked into the options for Mediawiki mirroring, and this is reasonably easy
and doesn’t require a strong server.
Editing can wait for a week, lookup shouldn’t.
I think that the only options to allow writes anywhere are for all the
systems to use the same database (bringing us back to a single point of
failure), to allow writes to different mirrors to get out of sync (which
seems like a terrible idea), or to set up some complex
clustering/sharding scheme (which sounds much too complicated). So I
think that having the mirrors be read-only is the only feasible
solution, which is probably for the best, since I'd personally much
rather just host a bunch of static pages than to run a database and a
bunch of other software.
It’s possible to run Mediawiki over a whole farm of servers (Wikipedia had 390 a few
years ago), and the "single database" can also be spread well (I managed a
MySQL master-slave setup around 2005…), but I don’t think that’s necessary. I’d also
avoid running ConTeXt “in the open” like behind the wiki (and for COW).
