I have several NTOP boxes up. Most are on Redhat 9.0, and 2 on 2.6 kernel Gentoo machines. Even the low end gentoo (P3 500, 256 MB Ram Laptop) does a decent job. I don't use that for long term monitoring of course, but I have not seen any problems. The RH9 boxes also have no problems, but they are all running 3.0 still.
