That makes more sense - there is a problem I've found w/ the syslog()
functions on RH prior to 9 (that is pthreads vs. NPTL). It mostly bites
during startup (esp. w/ -t 4) - that's when multiple threads are logging
stuff simultaneously and frequently. Once ntop is running, there shouldn't
be a large risk, but RH9 is a better choice than 7.x or 8.0.

FC1/2/3 should work great too.

I am a BSD guy, so I may be the wrong person to comment, I am running ntop
3.1 great on a RH 9 box. I thought it was a 7.3, but I was mistaken, I just
checked. The RH 9 box has been up for over a month monitoring a sustained 15
Mbs or so traffic from 8:00 to 4:00. I reset the stats ever so often is
all.
