Did you READ - as I've told you to do twice - docs/FAQ's articles on ntop/Win32?  Nope... quoting:

Q. ntop -i1 ... doesn't work
A. ntop has special parameters under Win32

Under win32 there are TWO COMPLETELY SEPARATE TYPES OF PARAMETERS.

There are the parameters to the win32 stub AND there are parameters to ntop
     itself.

AFTER THE win32 parameters are the ntop parameters in the standard (Unix)
     -xxx format.

ntop /c <normal parms>  runs ntop INTERACTIVELY with the specified ntop
         parameters

ntop /i <parameters> installs ntop as a service to run with the specified parameters

ntop /d deletes the ntop service

Remember, ntop /i and ntop /d don't actually run the service - you need to
   start it.

REMEMBER: there are TWO ways to run ntop, one as a service, one 'interactively' (/c).

They are totally separate.  Just because you ran ntop w/ interactively with some parameter
set, does not affect the stored parameter set for the service.

To change the stored parameters, reinstall the service vi /i.

Subject: [Ntop] ntop

I have download ntop-3.1-demo for windows XP.

My ntop.exe is not working from my command prompt.

I need to change the password so I could acess the admin-config  toolbar in the GUI.  Basically I cant run the win32 application from the console(command prompt) .

The error is:

" Under you version of Windows, ntop is started as a service. Please open the services control panel to start/stop ntop or type ntop/h to see all the available options.

docs/FAQ on running the Win32 app from the
console
Burton you had told me to run the win32 application from console.  However when I go in my ntop-Win32 directory and type in ntop.exe
I get the error

" Under you version of Windows, ntop is started as a service. Please open the services control panel to start/stop ntop or type ntop/h to see all the available options."

Does this me ntop doesn't run on windows XP
If anyone can help me, that would be great.

Thanks
