As computer professionals, our ethics should be similar to other professions. Here's one statement that I think should be kept in mind, from another profession: "First, do no harm." Logmein and other 3rd party remote access products, IMNSHO, are the rough equivalent of sending a 3 year old to play in the auto wrecking yard.
