a few of our execs are running 08 on their on their mac book pros (no bootcamp) with aero enabled. this is the only time i understand enabling any appearance effects on a server (although anything is far easier to understand once you've been told to put 08 on a mbp)

There is also a master button there labeled "Enable everything detrimental to the performance of my server, just so I can make it look cool when I'm logged in locally". Be sure and press that too.
