Who said anything about them being idiots? Giving industry trends and know-how to your employees that may improve their happiness and productivity does not imply them being idiots.
This general assumption IT folks make that other IT folks are not as good and think every end user they support is an idiot is one of those things I can never figure out... They won't know. I deployed dual monitors to all my employees way back, and many didn't even understand why, some didn't want it. 2 weeks later I asked them how it was working out, and they ALL agreed that they didn't know how they ever got by without one. (In our business - dual monitors is a must). It's actually made employees not want to work from home anymore because they can't function with one monitor. Many now have 2 monitors at home.
