Yes, again, "collision with real geometry" is another feature that is
already in and would benefit from having more people officially request
it. Mentioning it on a forum, or any of our mailing lists will not get
it pushed up in priority.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Sean

Robert,
I had been experiencing something similar. I had birthed
particles 1 frame before my footage started, keyed that, then
moved to the frame where the footage began, and keyed that at "0"
emission, also all of this with "0" velocity. To get them moving,
i did a bit of brute force and used wind, with a box region
affecting the direction of the particles. I was creating streets
with cars, and used a roto shape to be headlights and head light
glow on the ground. The shot was from a very far away vantage
point, so the cars were tiny, and instead of animating cars, i
did the particle route. Depending on the direction you want your
particles to move, you should be able to use "Particle Wind" to
drive the direction of the particles. Now if The Foundry could
incorporate "animate on path" like Maya, that would be freaking
awesome....
Please send feature requests, such as the "animate on path" you've
just mentioned, to The Foundry support team. There's an existing
feature request in for it, but the more people request something,
the higher it's prioritised.
