This is the Syracuse Area Rare Bird Alert for the week of December 02 Highlights: ----------- RED-THROATED LOON BLACK SCOTER HARLEQUIN DUCK TRUMPETER SWAN SANDHILL CRANE PEREGRINE FALCON ICELAND GULL GLAUCOUS GULL NORTHERN SHRIKE RED-HEADED WOODPECKER OVENBIRD YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER COMMON REDPOLL PINE SISKIN Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 12/2: 15 SANDHILL CRANES were seen on Armitage Road. 12/8: 106 TRUMPETER SWANS were seen on Armitage Road. 14 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen on Armitage Road at the second bridge. Cayuga County ------------ 12/5: A RED-THROATED LOON was seen in the channel at West Barrier Bar in Fair Haven. Onondaga County ------------ 12/4: A late OVENBIRD was seen at the corner of Dunham and Babcock Roads west of Baldwinsville. A RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET and a KILLDEER were seen from the west shore trail of Onondaga Lake. 12/6: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on Potter Road in the 3 Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. 12/8: A RED-THROATED LOON was seen from the West Shore Trail of Onondaga Lake. A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen from the Parkway south of Liverpool. Oswego County ------------ 12/3: A HARLEQUIN DUCK and a BLACK SCOTER were again found in Oswego Harbor at Fort Ontario. 12/7: A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen at Selkirk Shores State Park on Lake Ontario. A RED-THROATED LOON was seen in Oswego Harbor. 12/8: An ICELAND GULL was seen at Selkirk Shores State Park. Oneida County ------------ 12/4: 5 PINE SISKINS were seen in Waterville. 12/7: An adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER continues at Verona Beach State Park on Oneida Lake.
