Hi,

It's hard without knowing the budget and what you want to use it for.

I have Asus EeePC (netbook), the 4GB one. It comes with Xandros which
is a Debian (like Ubuntu).

I was travelling overseas last year and brought it with me, and I was
using it for web development with LAMP+Symfony+Eclipse PDT+Subversion
installed. Very small and light, less than 1kg, so very (very)
portable. The battery life is good, 3-4 hours. It is also very cheap
(I only spent NZD $450 brand new from Dick Smith).

However, at home I would use bigger computer/laptop. Like someone here
mentioned, Eee PC screen and keyboard are small (but I got used to it
after few days).

I have 15" wide screen Dell laptop at home, its a laptop but I don't
carry it around when I'm commuting because it is about 4kg!

But hey, if you don't mind carrying 4kg while commuting, then I would
highly recommend you to get a 15"/17" laptop instead of a netbook.

On that note, I have been thinking of snatching one of those 2nd hand
12" old Macbook from trademe/ebay and run Ubuntu on it. It is not as
small as EeePC but has bigger monitor and is quite light. My friend
had one of those and I tried it, and it feels very sturdy. And since
it's pretty old now, I'm waiting for a cheap auction on trademe :D
