The difference between Hostgator and LiquidWeb is that several times
I've waited up to 3-5 hours for an email response from hostgator for
critical situations whereas I generally always get a reply from
liquidweb within 5-10 minutes. 

Once we had a hard drive fail on our hostgator dedicated server taking
it offline. It took them 6 hours to respond to the support request and
then another 3-4 hours to get someone at the data centre to replace the
drive.  

That did not impress me. 

Which is why we moved the main dedicated server to LiquidWeb to get the
1 hour hardware guarantee. 

Apart from the slower support at hostgator I've been very happy with
them.
