Hi Colin

Don't know if this helps but we recently talked to a hardware vendor who
said a number of there new machines, particularly a miniature computer
range, had a non standard serial port.  The said some GPS stuff did not work
with it.  Perhaps it is not the OS but an issue with the hardware.
