3) Should the community find a new name to call its own?
I.e. this shared stake-holder thing isn't going to work out, when Sun
believe it is in the community's best interest to use the Solaris
trademark in one way, but the community in another.
- Sun clearly can not cede control of its trademark.
- The community clearly doesn't like having "its" name being subject
to the marketing dept of its major sponsor.
Yet the two *must* co-exist, and must do so even when there differing
opinions on what is in our best interests.
The name issue will continue to be divisive until the community
realises there are only two clear choices that can be made, once
lines are drawn in the sand:
a) Accept that Sun also has the best interests of the name as its
own, even if the rest of the community (ex-Sun) disagrees with
some action taken by Sun in the use of the name
b) Change the name of the community to something the community
/can/ own.
Ideally, we'd be able talk all this out and come to a consensus - but
that opportunity seems to be gone in this case.
