We started a discussion along these lines about five
months ago. I proposed a "product stat block" idea
(since everything in 3E has a stat block) to go on a
product to help a custome decide if the product is
right for them.

This is the way Necromancer is handling that issue.
All our products have this information in a box on the
back of the product.
This discussion came about when people wanted to add
words to the d20 logo like "supers" or "fantasy" etc.
The word from Ryan at the time (and in the license) is
that there would be no modifying the d20 logo to add
anything. Thats when a bunch of people hammered out
the ideas that I summarized on my web site above.
