Actually, there are a great many of us who would like to see OGF become a
formal Non-profit Corporation (btw, should Ryan or anyone else want
assistance in creating a NPO corp, I can assist, at least here in Wa. State,
and total cost of creating the NPO Corp is under $100..)
Only by establishing a non-profit corp can the OGF actually have a legal
entity and secure any contributors from legal action. In theory, as it
currently stands, if WotC decided to scrap the entire OGF concept, and
require all manufacturers of d20 material to pay a license fee, there is a
remote chance that Ryan could be sued.. it would be a stretch, but I have
seen far sillier lawsuits make it through the system in Washington. (IANAL..

There is a fine between having morals and foisting them on others. ;)
Besides, everyone knows that in order to succeed in any business venture,
you have to toss morals out the window and go for the throat. Winning is
everything.. no one wants to be the 'second best gaming system' or write
'the second best module'
How many employers look for the second best candidate? No venture deserves
your second best effort.. If your best effort is to do moderately well by
maintaining your standards and morality, then my hat is off to you.. I am,
however, willing to sell in-laws into slavery if it means I get a 3% market
share advantage. ;)

You know, come to think of it, you are entirely correct.. I will have to
re-evaluate entirely now. Hmm, this has shaken my microcosmic world to the
foundation. After all, how can I support such a revolutionary idea in
gaming, where the players and manufactures actually get to participate with
little or no cost, when someone else beat me to the obvious marketting
edge.. drat that Faustus, his evil soul will forever inhabit the dark planes
of the 7th level of hell, also knows as the 'Sales and Marketting Floor'..
sigh.
