On 25 Jan 01, Brad scribbled a note about RE: Domain Abuse (was RE: [ogf-d20-:

Point. He is NOT funneling it through his SITE. He is pointing those
domains at one single page on that site. This single page is the
FAQ for the OGF (unofficial - and he says so). Now, I am not sure
how difficult it would be to get the domains to point to somebody
elses servers, but if that other person changed IP address, I do
know that it can be a real hassle to get them redirected (just ask
Nick Caldwell how difficult is was for The Guild Companion). By
directing them to a page that he controls, he avoids those hassles
if that situation should ever occur.
Also, Faustus paid for those domains, and he legally has the right
to what he wants with them. Just because some people are upset
and don't like it, does not mean that he is wrong, or immoral (as
others have pretty much claimed).
He has them pointed to his FAQ, which has a direct link to the
OGF, not to his homepage (which even I would say is wrong). Now
since he is sponsoring the FAQ, and has access to it from his
homepage (which has its own domain), he has placed links on it
(not very prominent ones at that) back to his homepages (which
happen to have commercial material on them). By following this
line of reasoning, the OGF website should not have any links on it
that point to any website that has commercial material on it. At
least that is how I am reading the attitudes........
