Now, there is a sticking point here. A six second round does not work in
non-combat situations, most of the time. In the case of opening a lock
it might, but searching for traps it won't. In the case of the sculpture
above, how long should each round be? I'm thinking an hour, but I'm not
a wood carver. Two hours? Half a day? One day? That's why I'm asking for
input and playtesting.

Actually, there is a way you can easily have a standard 6 second round.
You listed the sculpture task at 60hp. You worked it out based on
stats, and skill, that the character will do 1.225 points per damage.
What you should do, is adjust the number of hitpoints the task will
have. If you assume an average character with appropriate tools, will
do 1 hitpoint a round, and you want the task for an average character to
take an hour, the task will take 600hps (there are 600 'six-second'
rounds in an hour). Of course, a much more highly skilled character
will get the job done sooner.
