Yes.  I believe that GNU will outlive OSI by a considerable margin, and
there's no telling what shenanigans might crop up in the OSI approved list
over time.

I'm a big proponent of >not< splintering the license environment for
Open/Free projects.  Watching the license-discuss list, it seems like there
are a lot of people more interested in proving they can write a better
software license than Richard Stallman than just publishing free software.
I think that's a mistake.

Different media (like games) might need different licenses to handle their
unique problems.  But having fifty semi-compatible Open Source licenses in
software seems to be a step backward, not forward.

Eric Raymond believes that the self-reinforcing pressure of the gift economy
in the noosphere will eventually weed out weak forks in open source
projects.  I hope (and believe) the same factors will eventually deal with
the forking "Open Source" licenses as well.
