I think a lot of the anit-WotC feelings come from the early days of the
NewInternet (1995-1997) when started to Crack down on that. People are
quick to remember the past, but not so quick to forgive. In that last few
years since WotC took control, I have seen a rise in quality as well as a
rise in customer relations. They are bring the game back to the gamers,
essentially. It will take time, but I think if they keep up the good work,
they will once again be looked upon by most gamers as a good place.

Good luck and god bless,
