I have no problem contributing *rules* and *mechanics* and even *stats* as 
OGC. But I'll be damned if I'll spend time and resources developing an IP 
that could have profit potential for me and just fling it into the public 
domain via the OGL.

The occasional adventure is one thing, since adventures historically sell 
poorly anyway (one of the driving reasons to get all of us to generate them 
for d20 instead of WotC doing it -- GMs are really the only ones that need to 
buy them so they sell less than other products).  But a sourcebook with a 
fully developed world is valuable beyond gaming. If you don't believe me, 
check out the number of licensed fantasy novels the next time you are at 
Barnes & Noble.

And I don't feel the least bit bad about that, either.
