"I submit that I will likely lose money on OG. Almost certainly, because I
don't have the business acumen. What I will not allow is that I lose more
than, say, what I might otherwise waste on comic books (PLEASE don't ask
that number, or I'll be really embarassed) or other hobbies. If I make any
money, it will be less per hour than I make teaching and writing software by
a couple of orders of magnitude, I'll bet.

And none of that changes my concern for the gaming community as a whole."

So, uh, Martin: how much IS that comic book habit of yours? *grin*

(I pretty religiously read at least 10 to 15 titles a month, and the actual
influx of matrials in the household has GOT to be 100-200 bucks a month.
Don't feel too bad.)

I suspect I'll end up in the same boat money-wise . . . even if I realize a
profit, it's going to be well below what a my 'lil dotcom is shelling out.
But what the hell, right? We're doing this because we LIKE to game . . .
and the OGL (and d20) is a good way to be able to utilize resources out
there in order to be able to spend more time producing quality product.
(You don't see anyone asking Cook, Tweet, and Reynolds to hold down a full
time job, write up a rules package, AND supplements, all at once . . .)
