ok, I wrote this quickly... and I need to leave so I didn't have time to
edit, but I want to get this out today. I'm only trying to be clear, not
rude, and as usual this is only my opinion.

Out of curiosity ... who has the authority in the OGF right now? I assume
it's Ryan.

Hum. Ryan, if you prefer to take a back seat, then I think it would help if
you appointed some leaders or gave us your blessing to organize. If you plan
to take the front seat, then... in my opinion, it's time to be more
agressive about it.

You have some incredible resources on this list (and other places, I have no
doubt), a lot of talented and multifaceted people at your fingertips.
Consider delegating some duties. I'm not trying to take away anyone's
rights, but from my limited experience with Dunandralis and non-gaming
community projects, an effective way to make a group effort work is to 1.
State your goals. 2. divide them up into areas. 3. Delegate power/authority
to others to specifically work on reaching those goals. 4. Most important,
kill the confusion. The best way to weaken a project is to allow people to
be confused and to act independently and without direction.

Not that I need to be telling this to a VP. I'm saying that in the event
that the OGF has no current leadership structure.

IMO, the OGF needs a strong public face (a leader or a group of leaders with
excellent _excellent_ people skills, and with a neutral and estimable public
image).

The success of the OGL is a function of the strength of WotC, but is more
heavily weighted by the strength of the OGF when one is looking to the
future. Yes, _now_ the only reason why the OGF is viable is because of
WotC's awesome presence, but in the future the OGF will need to be bigger,
"badder", and brighter than WotC (and any other single entity that commits to
the effort). It behooves us all for the OGF to obtain a spine, sprout some
wings and fly, baby, fly.

And if there _are_ leaders and if the already is some sort of an
organization, well... it isn't obvious.

What about getting ambasadors from all the "important" segments of the gaming
community and then set up a special meeting? Just an idea.
