Which precedent would you like to discuss first? The Open Software
Foundation or the GNOME Foundation? Check out their FAQ's and you will see
that they are owned by members and contributors, NOT by the foundation.
Those FAQs serve a vital and necessary purpose - one that I intentionally
tried to emulate with mine. They serve to keep the ones who control the
foundation HONEST. By having an objective source of information, potential
members of the foundation can be assured that what is posted on the
Foundation's web site is fair, accurate, and is not misleading.

I take that role *very* seriously.

I categorically (and vociferously) REJECT your notion that I am not
personally entitled to ownership of my own work, just because the subject of
my reporting is YOUR foundation.

>That's why there's no link to it
>from the Foundation page.

IMHO that is a rationalization. Personally, I am MUCH more inclined to
believe that the link to the FAQ is not on your page because of more
personal issues - specifically times when I have publicly and sincerely
disagreed.

My FAQ is balanced and fairly presents both sides of the issues surrounding
the Foundation's mission. I have been told literally DOZENS of times that
it has helped people sort out their feelings and their concerns about the
Foundations goals, and I feel strongly that it has contributed to the
Foundation and to people's clear and balanced understanding of the issues.
Such a presentation is valuable to ANYONE who would consider using the OGL.

At times this has been at cross-purposes to things I know you wanted to
achieve. I'll make no apologies for this. I strongly feel the foundation
is better for it.

Ahhh... this would be why I posted an apology. The letter you wrote here
was (in fact) a response to that apology. Are you suggesting I apologize
again? Very well.

I am sorry for posting my request to the list. I only did it to make sure
that people were not using Yahoo and connecting to the wrong FAQ. I thought
this might be valuable information to those linking to the FAQ.

It seems some people disagree.
