OK. My other question still stands (even if it is hypothetical): would it be any worse for the D20SRD and D&D to disagree, than it is for Star Wars D20, Call of Cthulhu D20, SpyCraft, DragonStar, or Traveller D20 to disagree with teh D20SRD? [this isn't meant to be argumentatitive--i haven't formed my own opinion on the matter.]
D&D is the core game, that will keep being supported until--well, probably until some other game eclipses "Dungeons and Dragons" as synonymous with "roleplaying" in the public mind. For the most part, d20 doesn't mean "compatible with things that are compatible with D&D." It means "Compatable with D&D."

Because of this, the SRD should be updated whenever the core books are--and whenever Wizards wants to support a secondary book (Psionics Handbook, Epic-Level Handbook, etc.) they should add it to the SRD.

So, from Wizard's perspective, it's a good thing to release the revised SRD. As for the rest of us--well, if the game really is better, what do we have to lose from having an additional resource?
