We are at the Apache HTTP server home! I assume it's a proper server
installation; it's just not LAMP (AFAIK the ASF does not even use Linux,
it uses versions of BDS).

If you want to play with the site, that is, building it yourself, you
only need an Apache server, no need for PHP.

The CMS supports Dotiac::DTL, a perl port of django's templating
library, see

http://www.apache.org/dev/cms.html#solution
http://www.dotiac.com/cgi-bin/index.pl

It knows conditional statements, loops, etc. but all these is static:
you have to build the site in order to generate the content, which ends
up being static, aside from the SSI.
