In my opion the discussion is moving outside the scope of this mailing list so I refrain from commenting further, Ariel asked a question and that is answered below.
jan @Ariel: http://ooo-site.apache.org/l10n/extract_merge.html, is in my opinion very incomplete and describes part that are only used indirectly (through localize_sl), furthermore this subject is covered in high detail and with up to date information on: http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Localization_AOO http://ooo-site.apache.org/l10n/ooo_readme_how_to.sxw, it might be possible to do it that way but to my best knowledge the readme file is passed by localize_sl just like all other files. We do not have a special readme.sdf file. This is the fact as I see them, but not a recommendation for removal !
