It's interesting that - for a while - many sites had such a JS (or whatever) 
mechanism,
but it seems quite rare nowadays.  Maybe on those that did have it, authors 
typically
saved the size / zoom value in a cookie so that people returning to such a site 
would
see their previously set preference?

Otherwise, I agree, the zoom in/out option also works.   In Firefox I have the 
zoom
controls on my toolbar so I needn't remember the shortcut keys.
