Well, let's go to our on-the-scene correspondant, the HyperCard Script
Language Guide. Today's version is: 2.1:
"You can call the built-in functions of HyperCard directly and
bypass any user-defined functions by using the word the
before the function name. You can also use of, rather than using
the parentheses syntax; however, functions having more than one
parameter always require parentheses." (p. 258, "Function Calls")
[Hmm... this seems to say that "the ln of e", "ln of e", "the ln(e)" are
all "1", assuming appropriate values of e]
Note also that the same statement appears on pg. 290 of the 2.2 Script
Language Guide. If you have a different version, try the first few pages of
the "Functions" chapter.
