I did recompiled; I am able to send and receive messages. Is there is way to safely delete the old messages waiting in the queue?

No, it will not work as yet ! you will have to recompile qmail-queue as

take a look at /etc/MailScanner/MailScanner.conf

you can try to move the messages by recalculating the hashes or try to
write a script for that.
