In a server-based (e.g. thin client) desktop environment, the number of users who have ever utilized a server could still wind up in the hundreds or thousands. That's a lot of faces. There should be some upper limit, beyond which the face browser isn't utilized since it becomes impractical. There's also a $HOME access delay per user, if pictures are stored in $HOME. That could become substantial at some point particularly in an NFS-mounted $HOME environment. It's always possible for sites to turn off the face browser, but of course better if it were more intelligent and adaptive as above. -Bob
