Thanks Alan for the context. I'm happy that this is sufficiently standalone and useful as is to give my +1 on the case.
I can see that to take full advantage of this other things need to be built on it but for the VOP layer CIFS and ZFS layers this case seems complete to me. -- Darren J Moffat
