Yes, I'm quite sure.
It looks / behaves like that.

Here is, why I think "-reset" works on U20/external USB2.0:
I mentioned the hangs in my previous e-mail. I also described the scenario,
where I always have to reboot afterwards (or -alternatively - to wait ten
minutes or so for getting a timeout and for cdrecord to provide an error
message and then exit by itself). Because I don't wanted to wait for the
timeout and for cdrecord to quit by itself every time, I usually chose to
reboot via another xterm and "init 6".
Then - still after the next warm-reboot - the external USB / or ieee1394a
connected burner would _still blink_.
Then comes the point, where I try "cdrecord-ProDVD -v -V dev=2,0,0 -reset".
And afterwards the drive finally stops blinking and I can reload a new disk
finally.
Note: vold is disabled on my machines, so that we can ignore Volume Management.

After the reboot _and_ the "-reset" the drive is usable again.
Until it happens next time.

I thinks that's not a cdrecord related bug.
The external Combo enclosure is a very cheap one. Maybe it's not 100% USB2.0
and ieee1394a standards conform. And therefore not 100% compatible to all
configs/systems.

Another additional note: The enclosure was in 90% connected to my U20 via
USB2.0, rather than ieee1394a. Let's ignore the latter.

Just one question in terms of cdrecord itself: Why does it burn with speed=4,
despite the fact, that it doesn't only say by itself, dma was to slow for
burning that fast (4x), _but_ also despite the fact, taht I explicitly told him
to write with speed=2 ?
Maybe the media don't support writing that slow anymore?

I know, I'm using an old precompiled version.
Definitely time for me to compile your newest sources, as they include DVD
functionality now, since May2006 (do they?).
