As we discussed before, that wasn't appropriate in the context of GStreamer plugin, we can't fork a new process every time we need to extract a sector. The idea is that Rhythmbox provides "good enough" basic functionality. Those who want advanced features is free to use cdda2wav and its secret sauce, it ships with Solaris.
