Thanks for the correction. It will be a nice addition to gdm when
virtual terminals is done.

You mean dtlogin - xdm doesn't have that option. The lack of that in
gdm is the last hurdle it needs to cross to become the default, replacing
dtlogin, but gdm is depending on Virtual Terminals to provide that function,
so is waiting for that project to complete.
