>From the Project Indiana description on sun's web site Planned as an open source binary distribution of OpenSolaris, Project Indiana is expected to create a user base and grow mindshare for OpenSolaris by combining what people like about Linux--the distribution model, community, and packaging technology--with the unique technological features of the Solaris OS.
Unfortunately these "features" are what's wrong with Linux. I really don't want a Ubuntu like packaging/installation system. I don't want a "community" like linux. Try installing a package like netperf and watch what happens. I found it easier just to wipe the disk and install yet another "distro". Or maybe the Ubuntu install system, which doesn't allow for root access without jumping through hoops some of which aren't possible unless you are root This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list
