I would be careful to formulate such statements. For example, the sgi IRIX's inst(1M) software management subsystem provides all the functionality that pkg(1M) is currently scrambling to provide, plus more, like a very intelligent dependency resolution system. inst(1M) would be perfect for not just OpenSolaris, but Solaris in general, if it weren't proprietary and closed source. However, I do agree that rpm is not suitable for Solaris in general, and that includes OpenSolaris. For example, things like classes aren't supported.
