[osol-help] first install of OpenSolaris but flopping with Error 25: disk read erro

ok, so be gentle with me on this... i dont understand in what window i need to 
be in to run the checksum command.
also, who do i talk to about updating the OpenSolaris instructions to include 
this verifying-the-checksum step ? it's apparently old-hat to those who've done 
it before, but for those venturing into deeper water,  mentioning to verify the 
checksum will save some grief.
in the meantime I'll burn on new medium...
