Title starting with "Portal:" belongs to namespace with a same name.
It has special meaning to MediWiki software (the same that runs Wikipedia).
What is important to know is that any namespace must be declared (created) in
MediaWiki configuration file, it is not enough to simply write title, such as
Portal:Distribution and have namespace.

Besides http://el.opensuse.org/Portal:Distribution is actually empty page, in
English it tells:
"There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title
in other pages to find relevant background, or to edit this page." (Google
translation - surprisingly good one)
which is standard message that MediaWiki gives visitors instead of error
message "404 Page not found".

That is the old one. You can see:
http://old-en.opensuse.org
that has the same shape as http://el.opensuse.org .

Taking that Greek (EL) wiki is barely translated, my opinion is that we should
update wiki to the status of current http://en.opensuse.org . See end of email
for more information.

Some links may actually work, but there is a lot of additional functionality
that is missing in current EL wiki and too many pages will not look good. Some
pages that you may translate now like Portal:Distribution will disappear when
actual Portal: namespace is created. That is how MediaWiki works, so don't
translate in current http://el.opensuse.org .

To compare tools in current EL wiki and EN wiki see:
http://el.opensuse.org/Special:Version
http://en.opensuse.org/Special:Version

http://languages.opensuse.org/Help:Translation
has list of mandatory articles. That list is merely proposal that can be
discussed, but as long as no one objects it is mandatory.

We don't have much more then that right now.
To see the size of EN wiki, you can browse categories starting from:
http://en.opensuse.org/Category:openSUSE_project
also there is a lot of special pages that are worth browsing if you want to
see how MediaWiki works:
http://en.opensuse.org/Special:SpecialPages

To create pages there is no need for any special permission, just sign up for
Novell account and after that login into wiki. (Don't forget to validate your
email. Validation email will arrive shortly after creation of Novell account.)

To validate pages you have to be editor or reviewer, and to do admin tasks you
have to be administrators. To be able to change access permissions for other
you have to bureaucrats. All that is necessary can be set up after your first
login. BTW, there is only one bureaucrat there that can change status of other
wiki users in EL wiki.

:)

Now there is even more :)

The update of the http://el.opensuse.org will not happen in a day. I don't
have even approximate ETA as server admins have few updates in a queue and it
is up to them to decide how it will go. Besides nothing will happen before you
request that in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=629405 .

Please create Novell account, login in bugzilla and request to update
http://el.opensuse.org . Ignore comment that http://el.opensuse.org is
candidate for removal. Before you appeared here, wiki was not touched for more
then a year.

In the meantime we can use http://languages.opensuse.org so that you can see
how it will work. The same account you will use for bugzilla you can use for
any other wiki, including languages.opensuse.org .

Just let me know when you are ready and I'll create basic structure for Greek
and you will be able to start translation.

For communication we can use:
opensuse-w...@opensuse.org mail list
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/community/opensuse-wiki-discussions/

I prefer first, but I check second daily.
