Victor, I recently had a problem with Google Earth. It had been working fine until a recent update. Then, opening the application caused everything to crash and put me back to the log in prompt. A bit of searching on google came up with this.
Check /usr/lib/googleearth to see if you have the file libGL.so.1. If not, then go to http://www.ground-impact.com/libGL.so.1.2. Down load the file and rename it libGL.so.1 and copy it over to /usr/lib/googleearth. That took care of the problem for me.
