Sadly, no.

That's one reason why I also keep /tmp on a its own partition
(also to keep write() activity to a minimum on the root
partition -- corrupted root => difficult or no boot-up




I changed to runlevel 1 to make the file system as quiet
as possible, removed /tmp/* and /tmp/.*, and gained 112
GB of space.

In the future, boot to runlevel S (or s)
